The majority of these early 70's sci-fi/horror titles reprinted Marvel sci-fi/horror material from the 50's, but there was some new material too. I'm especially attracted to these comics because the cover art is very cool! A lot of the cover art is reprinted from 1950's era Marvel covers. But, some of the cover art is new or reprinted art that is modified in some way. Most of these titles lasted for only a few years and usually had no more than 20-30 issues and, in many cases, fewer. Between that and the fact that these are relatively inexpensive comics, collecting every issue of any given title is pretty easy to do. So, completists rejoice! Below is a list of some of the Marvel sci-fi/horror titles from the 70's. I'm sure there are numerous other titles that I don't have listed. I'm only listing titles that I have in my collection. Beware Chamber of Chills Chamber of Darkness Creatures on the Loose Crypt of Shadows Dead of Night Fear Journey Into Mystery (1972 Series) Marvel Chillers Monsters On the Prowl Supernatural Thrillers Tomb of Darkness Tower of Shadows Uncanny Tales from the Grave Vault of Evil Weird Wonder Tales Where Creatures Roam Where Monsters Dwell Worlds Unknown The standard format of the above titles is this: Each issue is a compilation of reprinted material from multiple sources. Of course, a few of the titles include new material along with reprinted material. As an example, Where Monsters Dwell #1 contains a cover and 1 story reprinted from Tales of Suspense #10 , 1 story reprinted from Strange Tales #74, and 1 story reprinted from Tales of Suspense #12. This is pretty much what you can expect from any of the above titles. Some titles focus on demons and ghosts while others focus on monsters and aliens. But, the format is essentially the same. Since I discovered these titles, I usually make sure to pick up, at least, 1 or 2 issues every time I visit a comic shop. I want them all. Why? Cuz they're cool.
